 end to suffering

« on: August 26, 2007, 04:28:01 PM »
What if we could, in the paths we take - eliminate suffering as we go?

Always in the media, we see pain and hardship - I know for my own perspective - this tears at me, particularly when the most innocent of all - children are harmed.

As an individual, we can't fix the world alone, but perhaps we can start a revolution of an idea - similar to the Pay it Forward idea... that if we see someone in need, we act with only the thought of tehir wellbeing.

I like it  Grin

The world is incredibly ambitious -- I don't have any problem with this, ambition pulled us out of the caves to where we are now and will continue to take us to new heights -- and from what I can see, this ambition is a major reason why the suffering of others often goes unchecked. It's not always possible to stop suffering when it could very well get in the way of this ambition.

If I am understanding you correctly Damien, you would suggest that rather than actively seeking out suffering and correcting it (like the many wonderful charity organisations) we go about our daily lives and if confronted by someone suffering, we act for that moment with the sole intention of correcting it? Then we can continue with what we were doing?

Unlike Pay It Forward though, we would ask nothing in return as we have been rewarded already knowing that the pain we encountered has been laid to rest?

I really like it - correct me if I'm misinterpreting.  The Pay It Forward idea without the obligation on the person being assissted.

The Linear Harmony idea? LOL, do what you need to do to make the path you walk free of suffering.

Yeah, I really like the idea of pay it forward but I've always thought that it might rely too heavily on the person being helped.

I don't want to sound like I'm  having a shot at society or anything but what if someone decides not to, dies before or even can't find anyone else to pay something forward.

I like this reasoning in that you're not obliged to do anything, you're no selling it off on a pyramid scheme or anything -- if you are going about your life, then step in and help.. Then continue your day. Wink

The Linear Harmony idea? LOL, do what you need to do to make the path you walk free of suffering.

I think that name could work Rakuli.. I have tried to live by this philosophy already but regret to say that I have turned the other way on occassion. Thinking about how much change could be achieved if every followed this way, I will keep it at the top of my mind.
